๐Ÿ’ƒ The waggle dance how-to

REAL BEE SCIENCE ยท DO IT IN THE LIVING ROOM
8โ† dance this shape!
Make a figure-8. Walk (or wiggle) in a big sideways 8 on the floor. That's the dance floor.
Waggle the middle. On the straight part of the 8, shake your hips side to side. Real bees waggle their whole abdomen!
Point with the angle. Tilt your 8 so the middle line points toward the "flowers" (the couch?). The angle tells your friends which way to go, measured from the sun.
Longer = farther. Waggle longer for far-away flowers, shorter for close ones. Now your friends know exactly where lunch is.

๐ŸŒฑ Plant-a-flower guide

WITH A GROWN-UP ยท SPRING OR FALL
Pick a sunny spot. Most pollinator flowers want at least 6 hours of sun. A pot on a balcony works great.
Choose native wildflowers. Bees love coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, bee balm, and milkweed (for monarchs!).
Dig and plant. Make a hole twice as wide as the pot, tuck the plant in, and pat the soil gently โ€” like tucking in a baby.
Water it in. Give it a good drink right away, then water when the soil feels dry an inch down.
Wait and watch. In a few weeks: buds. Then: visitors! Keep a tally of every bee, butterfly, and hummingbird.

๐Ÿ  Build a bee hotel

FOR SOLITARY BEES ยท NO STINGERS-INVOLVED

Most bees don't live in hives โ€” they're solo renters! Bundle a handful of hollow stems (bamboo, reeds) or drill 4โ€“6 inch deep holes in an untreated wood block, tie it together, and hang it in a sunny, rain-sheltered spot about 3 feet off the ground. Check back in spring for tiny mud doors โ€” that means guests have moved in.
